Orange County has approved $750,000 to go with $5 million of state funds to move the 500 people living in encampments on the Santa Ana River into permanent housing.
The $154 million Broadway Block mixed-use project will join several other developments currently on the way in Long Beach. The project will provide housing for CSULB graduate students, along with providing apartments, office space and other meeting spaces that will be utilized by the university.

When a developer wanted to buy 24 homes right up against the 91 and 110 interchange, he was denied because of pollution concerns. The planning community really frowns upon having any homes within 500 feet of a freeway because the pollution poses significant health risks.
