A, Quarteryard, temporary park complex created out of shipping containers in downtown San Diego will be moving as the construction of a 34-story office/residential tower begins.
RAD Lab spent $1 million two years ago to create a small park complex out of shipping containers that include a “coffee shop, beer garden and bar, cafe, restrooms, office and dog park.”
The project will be moving to 13th and Market to lot about half the size with plans open in October.
“That corner needs a little activation, a little community spirit, a little love,” said CEO Philip Auchettl. “We’re excited to try the concept.”
This move may be the first of many in what may turn into a project that continues to float from one undeveloped lot to the next.
